Rewriting the Story the Mirror Tells You
What do you see when you look in the mirror? Who is staring back at you? What words surface in your mind? What emotions are evoked? Why does one or all these things happen all at once when we simply look in the mirror?
The questions of the self are plenty when the ego takes hold of interpreting our world through our internal lens. The lens of our inner child, buried emotions, inner judgment, the generational doctrine that has been on repeat for as long as we remember.
Can we start looking beyond the ego lens? Can we be brave enough to look in the mirror and look straight into our eyes and say: “You are fucking amazing!” “You are resilient” “You are love” “You are truly a beautiful soul”.
Who cares if our hair is a mess or skin is not glowing at the moment…or a facial feature is not quite what we want. I challenge you to look beyond the veil…beyond the vessel and see yourself…your authentic self for the first time. Deep down at the core you are this eternal being who is so wise, kind, strong, benevolent, compassionate and loving. Somewhere along the way we started grabbing onto other people's judgments and perceptions, taking on their emotions as our own, feeling guilt or regret for something we did not know why we did it. And this heavy ass feeling and burden feels exhausting and sometimes overwhelming. This feeling is not you…these thoughts are not you…these actions are not you…at least not the real you.
Redefine what beauty is, what peace feels like, what joy looks like. You have the pen so start writing positive things about yourself and allow yourself to feel like it's true even though your ego is telling you it's not. Let the ego know that it is safe to step into this new version of yourself…the one who is more optimistic and more present in life. The one who is ready to listen to their true inner guidance and follow their intuition. If what comes to you is not helping you to grow, prosper in life and it feels heavy or dark or misaligned with your path…that's not your intuition but something else.
